new here

and thus begins the blog. i truly have no direction for this except to say that this is going to be an adventure. i just arrived in philadelphia and am anxiously awaiting the start of my graduate ‘career.’ yesterday i found the grocery store, which was a wonderful addition to my attempt at normalcy (the pizza was getting stale).

today i tried to find a messenger bag for my gigantic laptop but to my dismay, the shop foiled my plan. i went to a shop a couple blocks away and an employee was unloading a giant box of messenger bags (hooray!). she immediately led me to the one and only bag that could hold a laptop. i finally decided that red could be a good color, rather than the black or purple i’m used to, and proceeded to checkout. i was beginning to get giddy when the manager leans over the clerk’s shoulder and notes, “that’s a special order bag. she can’t have it.” foiled. i guess there’s another bag store on the other side of town…oh bother.

as for the digi workshop i’m taking before school actually begins…it’s hardcore. way hardcore. the first day we were doing boxes and saying ‘ooh! look, you can make cubes!’ and the second day we were exporting design files to illustrator to assign line weights while the teacher said, “it should only take you ten minutes once you get to illustrator.” i’m still trying to make my cube rotate. oh well, a head start is definitely a head start. by friday we’re having a pin-up so i plan to spend the rest of tonight going through the catalogue of rhino tutorials. ciao!
